Distance Meter Pro App Reviews

Disappointed

Was not very satisfied with this. Everytime it turns off, it starts over. It makes it look from the graphic that it somehow gives you a map trail, but it does not, it really really needs a resume function.

Metric data inaccurate

This application works as advertized as long as you choose to display the Miles. I set it up for metric (kilometers) and got erroneous numbers. Example, it showed I ran my bicycle at a speed of 12598.0 km/hr...

Interesting concept, but very buggy

I have high hopes for this application, because what it purports to do is very useful! Unfortunately, it is buggy... including: - sometimes hangs... restarting the app does not continue where you left off, so your trip is essentially wasted. - Going to the Setting screen resets all of your preferences! Also, the "buttons" on the setting screen are not actually buttons at all, but toggle switches. (for instance, if you press "English" twice, it will switch to Metric and back. - The Pace setting never seems to work. Even when you are stationary. For some reason, the pace display is incorrect, even on a long trip, it should merely just know the distance traveled and the time spent, and it should be easily able to calculate the average speed, rather than having to query the GPS function for your speed. I have hopes the developer focusses more time on fixing the bugs rather than add new features such as the calorie tracker.

Good But

Its a useful app, but it doesnt have a resume function and in some cases it takes a long time to connect to a satellite. Looking forward to revised version.

It does what its suppose to do

Nice app, but it needs to allow multi-tasking!!! Its a shame that you cant switch app while using it. Would also need to provide local data saving. I made a few test and the results are accurate enough for my use (80 meters of difference with my personal ODO, for a 10km ride)

Dont waste your time

This application has not been updated in a long time, and is not as good as other apps out there. The iMapMyFitness app does the same thing, but better.

How do I get this thing to stay on metric?

I am Canadian. It wont default to km. other than that I like it.

Not impressed

This app doesnt work well - it freezes up when trying to enter weight. Only draws from emojis so cant type from keyboard and takes forever if at all to load

dchiker

I went for a walk 5 times and it worked once. I set it up to use and put the screen lock on. When Im done walking the screen lock is off and Ive lost my workout. Its a nice idea if it would work most of the time. I think Ill have to go back to my pedometer. It always works.

Rip Off!

Doesnt work and unresponsive developer. Bought it to go along with Training Peaks but it crashes or only records half of your info. MotionX is the way to go... It works perfectly.

horrible distance meter

I do not recommend this for anyone. It does not keep accurate track of time or mileage & is a complete waste of money.

Love this app

This app is impressive i tried the free one to see how well it worked and it is worth paying for. Me and my wife are able to track and map our runs and it is awesome to see our progress.

can be made to work...

It took me a few false starts, but on my third attempt I finally got what I wanted from this app, which was a map of my regular hiking route with distance and altitude information. The downsides? I found I needed to hike *holding my iPhone.* Depositing it in my back pocket disrupted the gps signal somehow. This app also doesnt play well with others: stop to take a picture or verify which bird you hear singing, and youve lost your data. If futureApps allowed "pause" to retain data upon closing the app, distance meter would rate five stars. Nevertheless, it works. Sometimes the "route map" portion doesnt seem to be working on your phone, especially if youve gone out of cell tower range (note that the gps works fine without cell network), but if you upload your data through the app once youre back on a network, youll find your route map and all accompanying data available, and exportable in .kml format (for google earth) as well as other formats.

Wont work (Does not access the GPS)

It would not connect to the GPS at all. No option to give feedback/get help. Clicked report a problem in the receipt link (from email) and was sent to the purchase receipt. I want my money back, but dont think Ill get joy on that either. Dont waste your time or money on this functionless app!

Distance Meter Pro

This program works pretty well. I used it on my GS for a while. One thing I hate about this for my usage is its screen locking mechanism. Once you lock it, you are to tap the screen three times to unlock. I tend to wear cargo shorts and put the phone in my leg pocket while I walk my dogs. It seems that the phone bounces around and unlocks on its own, then the program stops without me realizing it. They should use the slide to unlock feature... My second major pet peeve is when I upgraded to the iPhone 4, I fat fingered the message box asking if the program was allowed to use my current position. I mistakingly put "Dont allow" which was my fault. The problem is that there is NO WAY to fix this. I restarted the program (other programs ask you each time you start up). I had to delete the program and reinstall it. This seems like a simply preference fix to me. I cant tell you how annoyed I was on this. Those are my two complaints. Other than that, the program works very well and I do like it for 3 bucks. If you dont fat finger it, and you have your phone on an armband, Im sure you will not have the same problems I have. Good luck.

Stops randomly

Its great app when it works but biggest flaw is, if you get sms or a phone call, app stops. It does not retain any information. in fact free version was little better than full paid one. I am going to look for another app which does not get turned off if you get call or text. Overall I would say- Look for some other app.

Great app for daily runs!

Ive been using this app on my 3GS and now 4 all summer to track my progress on one of three running routes I take each day. Works quite well, shows you your track through the subdivision and then through the nature preserves (topo maps are nice here!), gives me my pace (realtime), and then at the end of the run gives me an average pace for the run. All data is then uploaded to my free TrainingPeaks account. Very slick app! The only negative is the screen colors chosen by the developer are not easy to see while wearing sunglasses in bright sunlight (e.g. white on black would be easier to see). Use it almost every day--works well!

crap

GPS does not function for v.4, No support, innacurate distance calc when it worked. Piece of crap waste of money.

Poor design, non functional, Waist of money!

Bottom line, this app is not worth the money in any way. I bought it to track and upload mileage with training peaks however I could never get the app to actually effectively track a run to upload it. 1 start and stop buttons are way too small to be functional during a run 2 No ability to get pace per mile or any kind of update during the run 3 I never got the map function to work 4 Multiple tasking does not work so couldnt listen to my IPod on a run. I am disappointed that currently this is the only app that works with Training Peaks web site. It is not functional nor is it worth paying for. Dont waist your money. If you want a good running App check out Imap my run.

Not functioning on iPhone 4

Used to function properly on my 3GS, but is useless on my iPhone 4. After a mile it still reads .02 miles and all other functions are useless. Bummer I liked this app enough to upgrade from the free version to the paid version. Keep looking for fix updates.
